Performing Arts

At Weeden Heights Primary School students enjoy Performing Arts classes as well as other extra-curricular Arts activities.

We have a full school production every second year.

The students are always very excited to be able to experience performing on stage and look forward to the year they are the “senior kids” in the lead.

Learning to Read Music   In Performing Arts lessons students are involved in making and responding to music, dance and drama.

They experience learning how to read notation and write their own compositions to play on percussion instruments.

The school has recently added to its classroom music resources with the purchase of three new xylophones.

In drama the students learn about using their bodies to help tell stories and create mood and they especially like watching themselves after being filmed and in costume!

Dance is always fun and the students enjoy choreographing their own dances as well as learning old favourites including the Nutbush!
