Kitchen Garden Program

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program at Weeden Heights Primary School aims to encourage and facilitate learning for life through an engaging, fun and hands on experience in the kitchen and garden.

We aim to promote and strengthen our community involvement in the Program and encourage the understanding of a variety of different foods as well as the relationship between the garden and the table.

Through integration in the curriculum, children will develop practical understanding of environmental issues and build    self-esteem, confidence and a sense of achievement through kitchen and garden activities.

At Weeden Heights, all children in Grades 3-6 are involved in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program with sessions running either weekly or fortnightly in both the kitchen and garden.

Community involvement is integral to the success of the Program and we always welcome new volunteers to assist us.  If you are interested in seeing the Program in action, please contact the school office for an appropriate time.
